Julia is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). She earned her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Fairleigh Dickinson University and her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, with minors in Psychology and Chemistry. This educational background provides her with a unique lens to health and wellbeing. Julia previously worked in an outpatient community mental health hospital setting. There, she focused on providing clients with solution-focused approaches to achieve desired changes in a short-term therapy setting.
Julia sees adults as well as adolescents, working with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, and challenges with self-esteem. She integrates a client centered approach when managing conflict in relationships, teaching parenting skills, and addressing family systems work. Julia understands that there is an immense amount of trust needed for the therapeutic process to be effective. She focuses on providing clients with empathetic understanding and nonjudgement to foster a trusting therapeutic relationship.
She collaborates with clients to identify skills, such as mindfulness and breathing, that will help them cope with life transitions as well as emotional dysregulation. She uses motivational interviewing throughout the therapeutic process to help identify goals and continue to motivate clients to achieve those goals.
Julia welcomes clients from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds. As a first-generation, biracial individual, Julia has a personal understanding of issues relating to cultural experiences. She provides clients with a space where they can freely explore their own identity development and how their background ties into topics brought up in therapy.
In her free time, Julia enjoys practicing yoga and going on long walks and hikes with her German Shepherd.
